‘Bilder atlases’ as tools to create new perspectives
Quirijn Menken
In this workshop Bilder Atlases have been used to discover new and different narratives, in order to experiment with meaning, frame and decontextualization to reveal new analogies and ways of seeing.

Visual images and media vastly influence our worldview in such areas as our beliefs, values, and attitudes. Montage as concept can be a critical form of dialectic thought, as one can perceive images from different points. With photo montage there is a constant possibility to modify the configuration: new analogies, new paths of thought. Producing a Bilder atlas is to reconfigure the space, to redistribute it, to disorient it: to displace it where we thought that it was continuous, re-gather it where we assumed there were borders.
